In 5th grade, students are encouraged to be more independent and take responsibility for their choices. The counseling department is available to assist in making positive choices that lead to academic, social, emotional, and career success.
Individual Counseling- counselors are available by appointment, drop-in, or response to crisis to address the following areas of concern, to name a few:
Group Counseling- Counselors run topic/need driven groups to allow students to provide support to each other in the context of counseling:
School Wide Activities- There are a variety of activities that fifth graders may choose to participate in to help improve their academics, improve peer relationships, provide leadership opportunities, and improve school climate:

- Crunch Time @ Lunch Time is an opportunity for students to get a head start on the evening's homework, studying, or projects OR to get caught up on missing or late assignments. This is not assigned, but rather an opportunity for students to take advantage of to help improve their academics or to better manage their time.
- Study Skills Groups are based on students who are identified by teachers and/or grades as needing extra support for organization, time management, and study skills.
- S.O.L.V.E Students of Lounsberry Value Everyone creates and organizes various social and leadership activities to broaden positive peer interactions throughout the school.
